our journey began a couple of years ago....as residents of northwest san antonio, we always aspired to expand further into the beautiful texas hill country. it was a simple, complicated start. hubby wanted a boat. i wanted to ride in a boat. being the logical consumers we are, we didn't want to spend money to store a boat in a marina or yard. "let's buy a small piece of land to store it," i said. my sweet, accomodating hubby agreed and the search began. with no boat in tow, i was cruising park road 37 one day, when i spotted a fsbo. it was a quaint piece of land, with little to be desired at the time (please see pic on this page). it had a shell of a building, a wet-weather creek, some trees and a lot of history. we purchased the property with little thoughts of the future. "we can store a boat anywhere...let's fix up the little shack," i eagerly suggested. my sweet, still accomodating husband agreed and renovations began (after demolition) . our initial vision was a quaint hill country getaway but our end result was nothing short of amazing. with four beautiful children of wildly varying ages and three adorable grandchildren, we were creating a family destination. with a strong desire to connect with the texas hill country, meld into a small community and embrace a less connected world, we built a beautiful cabin...everything hand-selected by us (aka me). while our quaint cabin was nothing short of amazing, we needed additional space for all of these damn kids and grandkids. thus, the two container homes were born. if a picture was worth a thousand words, this one certainly tells an incredible story (once again, pic on this page). since we can't enjoy our getaway all the time, twisted branch was born. when we gather at the branch, we find ourselves relating to simpler times while enjoying thoughtful design. our hope is that our guests will find the ability to unwind and recharge, as we do during our periodic escapes. thank you for trusting us with your family's comfort. i think you'll find that no corner was cut in the design of this ultimate getaway.
